Touch screen scan tool for 1991-1999 3000GT GTO Stealths

Touchscreen scan tool that communicates with all computers on our car, it duplicates many of the Mitsubishi factory scan tool but with an easier interface. It communicates with engine ECU, automatic transmission ECU, climate control, SRS airbag, ABS, cruise control and ETACS. It displays error codes, clear error codes, perform some diagnostic tests, and shows data in real time.

Hi
Ive bought one of these off you and can well recomend these, there quite good and talks to all the modules on my 1999 3000GT, save a lot of time fault finding for not a lot of money, compared to a few hours in a garage these days which can be really expensive.
Great piece of kit and came in a week to the UK

cheers
Joe

Someone on ebay asked if I still stock and sell these, and the answer is yes. These are my most popular devices, and I will continue to build more to replenish inventories if I get low.

Is there any way with that tool to figure out if any of the O2 sensors are playing up?? And specifically point out which one??

You can view all O2 sensor data simultaneously and monitor if there is anything unusual. Under normal conditions, both O2 sensors should behave in like manner. If one O2 sensor is reading low all the time, then it’s likely a bad sensor if the fuel trims are not maxed out. I do have the O2 sensors labelled “rear O2” and “front O2” to help diagnose it.

Hmmm, interesting… I am having some odd issues with my VR4 and I am about to blow a fuse trying to figure it out, and I really cannot be arzed changing O2 sensors just by blind troubleshooting the problem away.

If you suspect you have a bad or lazy O2 sensor, you could do this as a test:

Disconnect both front and rear O2 sensor wire harnesses.

Disconnect the battery for a minute, this is so the engine ECU fuel trims reset to normal.

Reconnect battery and drive the car, if there is significant improvements then you know the O2 sensor was to blame. Eventually you will get a check engine light for the missing O2 sensors but your fuel trims will stay unchanged and balanced.

Awesome, thanks loads for the advice:)

@BlackStealth Good to see you’re active on here. A few questions for you please, I’ve had mine a few years and its a great bit of kit but I’ve always been irked (and continue to be irked) that the touchscreen seems out of calibration with the buttons on the screen - as I’m trying to press things like ECU or ABS or scroll through the options it goes into something else. Is there a solution for this?

Also, I couldn’t seem to get it to read the ECU from a 1996-1997 GTO non-turbo on any protocol, I thought the unit could do all including the “Hybrid” ECU years?

ABS ECU connection to a 1997 UK 3000GT seems intermittent, most times it fails to connect but persevering it eventually does. Is there a specific connection set of conditions/process?

Thanks, Andy.

Get the latest software update for touch screen unit here:

https://lcdbc.xp3.biz/updates/FlashScantool.zip

With the new software, when you power up the unit to the main menu, press the black button on the back you can re-calibrate the touch screen. Take a pen with the cap still on it, and press each corner like it asks. If you take tap the corners to the extreme edge, it doesn’t work as well and gets confused. What I find that works best is tap the corners a few millimeters away from the edge and it no longer gets confused.

1996-97 GTO communicates using the MUT protocol only, this is the same protocol some people refer to as “Hybrid” on the 94-95 USA cars. All our cars from 1991-1999 communicate using these three protocols "OBD1, MUT, and MUToverOBD2”, and all three are supported. I did have one customer where they had difficulty with connecting and it did connect only once for them. I suspect their ECU were damaged from leaking electrolytic capacitors as they had never replaced their original capacitors.

Communication to some ECUs are sensitive to battery voltage, so make sure you’re top up to 12.6 volts. And when communicating with the ABS computer, it can be finicky in that you must power off ignition key for a few seconds before proceeding to connect. Then with the first click of the ignition key to power up the unit, go to the ABS menu and follow the instructions and then turn the ignition key to the RUN position. Skipping this procedure results in a failed connect. The newer software has more instructions to remind you of these steps.

Awesome! Thanks so much for the support!

I don’t recall the exact date, perhaps 2-3 years ago, but I improved the communication between with the finicky ABS computer for 1996-1999 year models. The software update will query the firmware revision of the support microcontroller and let you know if it needs updating also.

I don’t think I ever received a programming cable with my scantool, which I think also is different (much older?) than the one you advertise as mine has a couple of microswitches that say something like “Chrome ECU” and “OBD1/OBD2” - am I going to be able to update mine? I’m not even sure it has the button on the back you mention. hmm.

With your older unit, look on the side, it should have a USB-mini port – same kind of cables used on older digital cameras, dashcam, etc. If not, upload picture so I can help you more.

I’ll take a look tomorrow, what made you change to serial port instead of the USB?

Switching from Serial to USB added a cost of about $5 more, and that is what is found on the newer version.

Oh, I’m confused - do I have the earlier or later version if I have the exposed circuit board with the mode switches on and a usb port?

There are four versions of the touch screen scan tool, the very first version had a detachable screen, and it was updated using a serial cable. The 2nd, 3rd and final version all use USB-mini port for updating.

I have one Excellent, with great after purchase support.
