Super job. How was it to do the valve cover. I need to do mine but I’m searching big for a powder coater or do it myself.

It was real easy; I took a wire brush on a drill and cleaned off all the coating and then painted it with engine paint.

My '92 3000gt SL has 43,000mi and after being inspired by the posts here I cleaned mine up a bit. Long story behind this one but I’ve owned an SL for 28 years. You simply cannot buy a better-looking car for under $100k.

That looks so good that I kinda want it!

Just a SOHC (for now) but slightly dressed up.

The red MSD wires are gone and have been replaced by blue NGK wires so its not such a glaring difference. The injector harness cover has also been cleaned up and doesn’t look as dirty.

Did you route the wires to the back three cylinders, too? How on earth did you get to them… twice!

I kinda like the suspension coil coverless look. Very techhie. I covet the chrome covers I’ve seen elsewhere, too. Sigh.

With the SOHC the rear bank is easily accessible. Especially with the long tube headers

Another thing I realized was different is I have nice silicone radiator hoses installed as well as a less garish oil cap.

I’ll just have to snap another pic and post it. LOL

Love it, I have a very clean base model but want a VR4 one day.

I havent had my car for the last 6 years, but heres a before and after. Just finished rewiring a lot of the connections in the engine bay and decided to do some various detail work.

and here it is 11 years later.

This car was borderline totaled when I got it, there were more bolts and body clips missing than there were left lol. And before anyone gets upset that I repainted it from its “Iconic red” Id like to point out the previous owner threw on a cheap red maco paintjob before selling it to me. Less than a year later and the clearcoat had already come off. When I sanded the car down, it looks like it used to be black.
