My thoughts are with you Joe!!

Hi Guys
A number of you have asked me to update you on my progress.
I write to you today from my bed in Lincoln County hospital where I am being cared for by some of the most wonderful medical staff that you could ever wish to meet.
Before I update you with my progress, I just want to take a moment to thank Morgan for setting up the gofundme and to each and every one of you that has contributed to the fund. My family and I have been really touched by your donations and support which have helped us greatly during this difficult time. Even a donation of 1 penny means that you care and it’s the care that matters. My special very special thanks go to Roy Reid who donated more than £1200 and left me feeling quite emotional. I will not forget the support that you have all given and I am working on ways to reward you for your generosity as soon as I am well enough. Because many of you are not on my forum, I will be making contact with you through the gofundme. THANK YOU ALL
Now for the update
My original treatment plan was for 30 days of radiotherapy and chemotherapy combined. On day 1, I had a bad reaction to the radio therapy and so it was decided that chemotherapy would be delayed until after the radiotherapy had ended.
On subsequent days of treatment, I had various responses and on 3 occasions was admitted to hospital for stabilising.
After 27 days of treatment I became so ill that the therapy had to be stopped and I am now hospitalised. I have lost 10kg in weight (some might say I need to). My saliva glands and taste buds have been burnt away and the only thing I can smell or taste is rotting meat.
I am not sure at the moment what the future holds for me or if I will return to treatment or let nature take its course. This has been the most difficult challenge of my life and it is certainly taking its toll. It will probably be a couple of weeks before I am well enough to make a decision but I have not given up hope and I continue to plan videos for the future.
I will update you again in the future when there is something new to report.
Once again, thank you all for your support and happy motoring.

Sorry to hear this news, try and stay strong, a lot of folks are thinking of you and I would guess, many saying a prayer. The very best of luck.

You a fighter Joe, you’ll get through this. You in my prayers and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Praying for your full recovery.

Hey Big Joe! Sad to hear that your treatment has been so dam rough mate, we’ve spoken quite a few times via email but I wanted to reiterate how much your videos have helped me and given me knowledge to restore my car, which was a major part in my recovery from a major motorcycle accident. Everytime I felt like everything was getting too hard I’d put one of your videos on and go and tinker on my car. I have no doubt this pulled me through some dark times. Your a very kind and inspirational person mate. Thanks to Morgan for setting up the go fund me page I’ve donated and will continue to do so on a regular basis, a little bit from a lot of people makes a big difference. My thoughts are prayers are with you mate Craig from Perth Western Australia

Joe,
Much love your way. While my battle with cancer also had many poor days I did mentally pull through with the love and friendship of my mates. Know that while we have never personally met and have only talked via email or your forum you have given so much positive influence to me and others. I cant say enough what this has done for me and possibly others. Your knowledge and passion is contagious. I hope some day to be able to see you personally and give you a good American bear hug :).

Hi Joe, I’ve messaged you a few times in here for advice on my 3000GT and have used several of your videos in helping with my build. When I heard of your cancer diagnosis, I was absolutely gutted. My Dad passed away of cancer after failed chemotherapy when I was very young. As such, I have been on a quest for alternative treatment and prevention care. In my quest, I came across a website called chrisbeatcancer.com that has some very good information that I believe is beneficial in fighting cancer and possibly eliminating it. I don’t know if you were serious about “letting nature take its course”. But, if so, then maybe this part of nature is the answer you are looking for. I am by no means a doctor… but I believe God put the tools we need to survive in front of us in the form of nature. Chris makes a lot of sense in his videos… and there are groups on fb that swear by his methods.

I hope this helps as it’s not meant to offend.

Please fight strong as not only myself, but the entire 3000GT/ GTO /Stealth community is behind you in your fight.

Thanks for the info Michael. I will definitely look into it. I think that you are right about the tools being in nature but mankind has forgotten its treasures and choses to wipe out everything we need in order to make a quick buck.

Hi All
I just wanted to give you all the latest update.
I am pleased to say that I have now left hospital and am continuing my journey of recovery from home. Whilst I am still unable to eat normal food, I have managed to put on a little weight by drinking hospital supplied supplement drinks. They taste disgusting but its all I can eat. I still have no sense of taste or smell, nor can I differentiate between sweet or salty. I lost a lot of muscle mass so I am not very mobile yet. My hearing is down by about 40% and I lost part of my vision in one eye. My nose bleeds day and night which creates sleeping difficulty. The final damage was to the hair which no longer keeps the back of my head warm as it is burnt away.
My family have made a joint decision to not return to the radiotherapy but to let nature take its course. We are hoping that the 27 treatments of radiotherapy will be enough to have killed the cancer but we won’t get any feedback for 15 weeks. If it has failed, I will start chemotherapy as a final hope.
That’s the doom and gloom part over. Now lets look on the positive side.
I am making a slow but steady recovery form the treatment and the amount of medication has gone from 12 drugs down to 2 per day.The smell and taste of rotting meat that was permanently at the back of the mouth has now subsided and means that I have stopped vomiting. The weeping and bleeding burn marks around the neck and jaw line have stopped bleeding and just feels like sun burn now. I no longer have to shave because the hair follicles have been burnt away.
Now that I am home, I will be able to bring back the Joes Gems section but please allow a little extra time for shipping.
I hope that I am not too ambitious but at my present rate of recovery, I am hoping to start filming again within the next two to three weeks and certainly before Christmas if there are no setbacks.
So that’s it for now. Thank you again to Morgan for setting up the Gofundme page and to all of those that have contributed.

Greetings Joe from lake tahoe USA, I hope one day you and family shall visit and be my guest. I am happy to hear that you are feeling better and no longer hospitalized. Cancer runs hard in my family genes and I have lost 3 immediate members which includes both my parents. I am in the process of making a youtube video just for your viewing pleasure of my 91 3000GT VR4 restoration build. The build is mostly stock, however there are a few things I have done that is a bit different and I have not seen anyone that has done this on these wonderful classic cars. This is my first ever engine build and restoration project that has taken me a few years. Our winters get very cold up here considering we are at 6k plus feet above sea level and the project has been done outside and not in a closed indoor garage so all the work is done during warm months that are only a few so that is why it has taken so long and doing it by myself turning 56. Your videos have been an inspiration and hope that you shall be amazed to the amount of work I have put into this project.
best wishes
