Wiggle Key to start

Hello all my name is Lee and i have a GTO SR.

Had my GTO for 7 years now and never had a problem starting. I went to start about an hour ago but it wouldn’t crank at all. after a few attempts I give the key a wiggle and then it started fine…

I take it something is starting to get worn out - where do I start to look for the problem incase it happens again? Key barrel, is the most obvious problem maybe?

Hi Lee Key barrel possibly or loose connection of some sort, also search Testing your ignition for faults on the other forum !

The barrel and ignition switch are 2 different parts that are screwed together. If the switch turns out to be the fault, you do not need to buy a new barrel and key.

thanks for the info guys! E.E sell new locks but they are £300 for a full set - Ignition, doors and boot (new keys). literally ever door lock/boot lock doesn’t work on mine so may be worth swapping them over.
