Hello all my name is gaz I have a 1992 GTO . Can someone tell me what this component does, It’s sat on the end of the inlet manifold. Is it adjustable and if so how do you set it up. Thanks
That is the VICS (Variable Intake Control System) motor
It is only on non turbo DOHC 3S’s. It opens a set of valves in the intake runners at 3000 RPM to change from short runner to long runners.
I have taken this off. Probably shouldn’t have done. How do I reset it when I replace it.
Found this
“BEFORE installing it, turn it almost 90-degrees (pointed upward) THEN slide it on over the gear, then turn it back down toward the back (firewall) so the motor turns the gear/valves. It should stop turning right where the bolt holes on the motor line up with the bolt holes in the plenum. If not, pull the motor back off and try again at a slightly different angle. Once the holes line up so you can bolt the motor down in place, do so, plug in the plugs, and you’re done.”
