VIN Decoding and Vehicle Number

I was wondering if anyone had any idea as to how to go about obtaining any info as to how many of my exact car was made, which number my car was off the line, etc.

I always see people saying "my car is 1 of 500 of this configuration etc. I’m just curious where this info comes from.

Also if your Mitsubishi dealer gives you a print out from the ASA spares page with diagram and part numbers of an item on it you will see at the top, when it came off the production line and which plant it was made at.
