I recently bought an aftermarket water pump replacement; the type that comes without the back housing. I’ve found, though, that the original back housing has two threads that are shot so I’m now looking at buying a further water pump complete with the back housing.
Can anyone tell me if the Aisin pump, reference WPM-030 will work on my car. I’ve looked very carefully at the photos of both back and front of the unit and it looks identical. At well under £100 it seems to compare well with the nearly £300 for the original.
AISIN water pumps are fairly reputable, used one in my Legnum VR4. If you get one off eBay the worst that can happen if it doesn’t turn up as a complete unit is you can send it back - but you could ask the seller first?
I’ve located an Aisin distributor in the south and am waiting for a price and delivery period. I’ll come back with the final cost.
Is this not what you need?
Hi and yes. The ones on Ebay, though, are all in Poland, Latvia, etc. and there are import duty and delivery charges to add to what they are asking. I want to see what an Aisin distributor in England will sell it for with no additional costs.
Okay. So I’ve got a price back for the WPM-030 and its £87.89 including VAT and delivery on an economy delivery service. The Supplier is Sussex Autos.
Thanks all.
That’s a good price and worth going through and supporting a UK business.
It’s worth noting, I don’t think there is anything extra to pay on eBay goods advertised to the UK buyer if it is less than £135 (after which Import duties apply as well). I believe any EU seller to the UK market has to be UK VAT registered and it is the EU seller responsibility to fulfil their VAT return. As you go through the purchase the price you pay is whatever as long as it’s under £135, I think the seller factors this into their pricing.
Madluka - Thanks for the info. I didn’t realise there was a threshold for import duty. It still seems a pretty good price so I’ll go with it.
I bought the WPM-030 last year hoping it would be a complete unit as that’s what it looked like on the pictures that Autodoc are using. Unfortunately that one was also delivered without the back housing.
MSutinen - They’ve assured me that it has the back housing, so we’ll soon find out!
Hi
Only genuine pumps come with the back housing, none of the other do.
Though it does look like WPM-030 does.
Genuine ones are only around £160 all in, from the states and there a hitachi one, get mine from summit racing and they usually turn up in around a week

Is That importing to here joe? Or state to state sipping price?
Hi
Thats imported to the UK from the states.
Ive had a bit of stuff off them over the years and they have been very good
cheers
Joe
Ok thanks Joe that’s not a bad price at all then if it includes import duty. I was in USA for 8 years and used Ninja performance as their prices were very good , but when I returned home their import duty was high. Now it’s ridiculous, in fact makes the smallest item not worth it. I miss bringing all my Mits bits home in my suitcase lol.
Me again. Long story short is that the Aisin WPM-030 does not come with the back housing. They used to, but not any more. The Hitachi WUP0023 mentioned in another reply comes complete but is currently on Amazon UK for £267.00, about the same price as Mitsubishi. However, I’ve now found a supplier of the back Housing. It’s a Dorman 902-000, which AI says is compatible and it’s available for £46.24, complete with bolts, gaskets, and O ring. Adding the Aisin pump and the Dorman back housing comes to about £120.00. Let’s hope that’s the end of the story.
Hi
As mentioned above the Hitachi pump, which is genuine mitsubishi is only £160, personally I would only fit a genuine type pump, for that cost, the after market pumps always seem to fail early.
Good call. I was struggling to find the Hitachi pump at the lower price you mention. Where abouts was it from?
