Hey Vince, yes, i’ll PM you

Have you got a link to the knuckles you replaced ?

Can you message me about the springs as well please

Hi Reece
Here you go, bear in mind that this is for a 13mm ball socket, It fits my car a 1993 GTO, So just check yours with a caliper to be sure before purchasing. best of luck,

Did you find out if these bushing fit the pivot arm?

I just broke mine and came here to see if there’s a replacement for these nylon bushing.

Thanks a million

Do you mean these in the link below ? If so, then yes, they fit as a replacement for the arm. As I said to Reece, bear in mind that this is for a 13mm ball socket, It fits my car a 1993 GTO, So just check yours with a caliper to be sure before purchasing. You will also require a threaded bar cut to size.

Sorry,

My question was to @gatepark, he had mentioned some nylon bushing that he thought would work for our application. I wanted to try this first to see if I can still save my OEM pivot link. Looking at the specs from those nylon bushings seem to be about the right size but just wanted to know if Paul a.k.a gatepark was able to confirm if this kit fits and worked. I may purchase the repair kit and try it, if it all fails then I will consider your suggestions

By the way the link doesn’t work for me, when I click on it it wants me to register my device to some odd website “mimecast”

Hi Antonio,

I went with Pken’s solution in the end but still rebuilding the car so haven’t actually tried them myself.

I did try copying the design using Fusion 360 and having them 3D-printed professionally but they were too brittle. I posted on a few sites looking for suggestions for the material/company to use but didn’t get any responses.

I still think 3D printing might be the way forward for the difficult to source ‘bits and pieces’ needed to maintain our vehicles but the technology might not be there yet?

There is a nylon (cube shaped) piece that is part of the headlight adjustment mechanism. I found a guy in Germany who 3D printed these and they work well. He also helped with some other parts for the UK 3000GT specification headlights.

Paul

I didn’t see this cube shaped that you’re referring to when I was taking mine apart, are you talking about the small pieces that insert into the square hole and then the screw goes thru?

Yes, they’re the ones I replaced.

Okay,

I can see those breaking as well, did you buy extras in case I may need them down the road? Lol

Quick question, did you actually purchased the linkage kit from Dorman that you mentioned in one of your posts above? I was able to source them from a chain auto parts but they don’t have them in stock, I would have to order them, which I don’t mind but I you say they won’t work then there’s no sense in even ordering them if they are not gonna work

Hi Antonio,

I only purchased enough for my own project i.e. 1 pack for each headlight. Here’s a link to the German company site where I got mine. Beleuchtung – DDA

I didn’t buy the Dorman kit because I couldn’t be sure it would fit our vehicles. If you decide to give them I try I’d be very interested to hear how you got on?

What is that adapter used for that they sell there??

Hi Johan,

I’m not sure but I think its related to the headlight levelling motor that is fitted to some models, including mine. The levelling motor is controlled by a dashboard switch. It allows you to raise/lower the pitch angle of the headlamps to compensate for heavy/light loads. The motor is buried deep inside the headlamp unit mechanism (see it marked ‘C’ in the attached pic) but as I said earlier its not present/necessary on most models.

Paul

I ended up buying the kit from Dorman and it’s a no go. The bushings are bigger than the hole. I have been purchasing other bushings but nothing really works, until I got a lead from someone in Thailand. The bushings just came in the other day and had a chance to try them out. They fit the hole perfect and they are actually very flexible and durable.

Here are some pictures of the final product:

The color is not the same but that’s the least of my worries, Something I have to warn you is that the fit is very, very tight, I had to drill a relief hole so the trapped air and grease could release the pressure other wise it would pop out on its own. After drilling a very tiny hole (about .4 mm) on the back it snapped in and it’s no longer popping out. I want to get a chance and talk to the seller and see if they can do minor changes to the design and make them a bit bigger in the inside diameter. If they can do that I think we may have a winner and will definitely share with the community.

I have to say that Europe always gets the best features… I didn’t know that Electronic Leveling headlights were available for the GTO platform. About 2 years ago I found out that the GTO also got the power folding mirrors. I was so amazed about it that I tracked down the module, the switch and mirrors from Japan because I was determined to put them on my car, I wired everything and got them to work but it didn’t work out because the shape was not the same and no matter how I would adjust the mirrors it just didn’t give me the right angle and couldn’t see crap, I ended up removing them and put my originals back on. The mirrors were put in the corner of shame to collect dust :man_facepalming:t5:

Hi Antonio,

I’m absolutely amazed that you’ve tracked down the headlight bushing in Thailand! Well done they look great. Count me in on a set if/when you are able to place an order, or maybe we have to order direct? How much did they cost? It’s always rewarding to restore original features and I prefer to only rely on workarounds as a last resort.

My car doesn’t have the remote mirrors either.
