Hello Joe and other group members. Some time ago I asked weather it would be a good idea to leave my car as is or to get a paint job. Joe unequivocally said the paint job was the way to go.
I have had the car painted and am in the process of reassembling it. All is going well but there are two questions that have come up.
What is this part (pictured)?
What can be used as a rubber gasket on the upper window garnish? (Also pictured)? It appears two types were used. One against the body which is about 1/8" wise and one against the windshield at about 1/4".
I have checked around for a thin adhesive rubber gasket but come up empty handed.
The plastic part is usually on the door glass and acts as a guide, it is held in place by the fittings on the glass.
The A pillar seals are unavailable and I never found anything exact to replace with. When I restored my GTO I used some 8mm adhesive backed foam tape but I stuck it to the body of the car and windscreen edge insteas of the trim, otherwise an adhesive edge would be exposed if you tried to stick it to the trim
I have some foam speaker tape I got from Crutchfield Audio a while ago with some speakers that I was considering. I needed a lot but I only had a little. I called Crutchfield and since I’m a previous customer, they are shipping me a roll for free and free shipping.
Here are some shots of the tape by itself, and installed. I found it is also used on the sail panel so am starting there since its smaller.
The only thing I would say is that the stuff I used was closed cell neoprene based and more water resistant, I think that stuff you showed me there is more porous foam type?
