Hello all my name is: Del, live in the North East of England
I have a: (1990 GTO, manual 3000GT, TT)
It has the following issue: not starting?? the car was running ok till I replaced the fuel lines, fuel filter and a spot of welding on outer sills, thought it might be faulty pump, I checked power was getting to pump that was fine, couldn’t hear no noise buzz/hum from pump so removed from tank (shearing 4 of the 6 threads holding it in), I set up a makeshift tank with fuel in, submerged the pump and wired direct to battery, pump worked fine, is it possible I could have mixed the lines up? I also checked the fuel relay situated on the passenger side consul/footwell, direct and that clicked? put things back together, turned engine over but no fuel comes from pump? checked fuses, they’re ok, any ideas on next step would be appreciated, maybe crankshaft sensor at fault, how would I check this and where would it be situated?
If the car ran until you changed the lines, I wouldn’t start going down a never ending rabbit hole of changing bits in a hope that one is faulty. Work systematically. Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail and see if fuel comes out when you crank the engine. Remember to cover the end with a rag or run a pipe into a bottle. Also make sure that there is no ignition source nearby. If no fuel, connect a power source directly to the fuel pump. If you are still dry, you either have the lines mixed up or the pump is bad. It is always better to do one line at a time so you don’t get mixed up. It also helps with correct positioning of lines.
