Hi, I have an issue with my passenger side window actuator… the original one failed last year. I since put in a NEW replacement. This has recently failed… which is strange… I need to test the actuator itself to make sure that is the problem, but if it isnt, what could the wider electrical issue stem from? could something be surging causing damage to the motor? or could it be as simple as poor contact on the window switch?
If anyone has had similar issues please let me know
Common issue is actually wiring in the door jam breaking.
The way to test if the motor is still good is to remove the door panel, unplug the motor, then apply 12v and ground to the plug going to the motor. Hot and ground one way is up, reverse polarity and it is down.
As Joe mentioned, there is a relay there which is known to go bad… The wiring bundle that sits in the door frame is also pretty fragile, so go looking there for faults… Most likely it is there somewhere
