Is this recoverable?

Went to attempt a repair of our climate control module and it seems to be in extremely poor condition. The control chip in the center seems to be rather corroded and burnt up.

I have parts and wanted to attempt the repair myself. Am I better of calling this a wash and getting another one in better condition?

I’m based in Australia in Brisbane so getting a hold of locally sourced parts is generally pretty difficult unfortunately.

It is very repairable but not with one of the repair kits that you can buy. Most of the displays that I get in for repair look like this or worse. The repair kit will cover about 5% of the faulty units and is a waste of money in my opinion. There is usually other underlying faults which will lead to more failures further down the line. When I do a overhaul, it normally involves more than 20 components and extensive bench testing.

Bite the bullet and find cheapest post and return deals and send it to JOE, he has done two for me over years. No tariffs lol with AUS/UK and all major couriers available plus the guarantee it will work when you get it back. Dont use anyone else without checking them out, so many scammers out there

Send it to joe i made a small fire with the repaire kit because it was more than it looked.

Drop everything & send to JOE. He is the man. He repaired my unit at such a reasonable price even though the circuit board was burnt in some areas.
