I have a: (3000GT SL 1997)
It has the following issue:
After starting the engine, the RPM is at 1500.
After warming up, RPM jump to 2000 or higher.
Unplugging the plug from the stepper motor does not change the way the motor works. The reaction is after disconnecting the throttle plug and/or the sensor behind the air filter. So probably they are working.
Does the stepper motor need to be replaced or it require some adjusting the throttle?
I had the same issue, changed everything ! Finally removed the FIAV and replaced it with a plate. Idles at 1000 rpm’s at start up and runs great. However that was at the start of summer here in Maryland USA. Worried about starting this winter.
Without the FIAV you’re going to have a very high idle come winter.
I am worried that it will be too low and hard to start.
FIAV has nothing to do with starting the car.
Why a high idle? Does the FIAV not let more air in when cold. So by bypassing it, there would not be any more air in, so the idle would not increase?
