Fuel pressure regulatory failure

Hello all. My name is: Maurice
I have a 3000GT Base model
It has the following issue:

2 new fuel pressure regulators have failed to restrict overflow. A new fuel pump was installed a couple of months ago. The fuel
/air mixture is poor. Getting black smoke out of the tailpipe.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

What fuel pump did you install? If you installed anything bigger than factory then that’s likely your issue. The stock FPR can even get overrun on TT’s.

Another possibility. Is your fuel pump triggered by the factory wiring? If you’re running straight 12v to it for some reason that is also a reason for too much fuel. Voltage needs to be regulated by the MFI relay.

I installed a Tru Grade OE Fit pump made by Delphi Technologies. Part #: 5211005.
Minimum flow rating 33 gph. Looking for a psi rating. Additionally, using the MFI original wiring.

That sound like either the maf has failed or the ecu capacitors have failed

The MAF sensor is less than one year old. That doesn’t mean it can’t fail. Just providing info. I haven’t inspected the board for leakage yet.

Thank you for your response.

Visually checking the ecu board will tell you absolutely nothing, if they have leaked, then is a more in depth repair
when mine failed the caps and board still looked brand new, no signs of anything
but I changed the caps and it ran perfect after, mine would idle perfect, but would bog out when I tried to rev and I also got a lot of black smoke, as if it was very rich, swapped the 3 caps, which cost under a fiver and it was cured
how to repair
