ECU number help

Hello all my name is Lee, I have a 1998 GTO SR 5 speed Manual.

Hi all, I was thinking about getting a back up ECU for when the inevitable happens. Ive looked on Japanese Websites to find my ECU number but for my car there is 2 listed. Without checking (as it’s a pain to get to) any idea why there would be 2 listed? I found one on eBay with the same Part number - but it says it’s from an Auto (mine is a manual). any help would be appreciated. thanks

go on megazip with chassis number and that should give you oem part numbers for ecu. if they have more than one it’s usually a later upgrade so ask them which fits yours. price on there huge but you will get correct ref

thanks for the reply. Megazip only has one type of ECU - image below. this part number is also on EBay (for a used unit). it says its from an Automatic GTO. I wonder if the ECU for the manual and Automatic are the same - would have thought they would be different. thanks

If it’s of any use, my car is a 1997 SR 5-speed manual non turbo, I have removed my ECU to check it out, it did not look as if it had ever been removed previously as all the cables were still clipped to the dash chassis, the ECU part number is MD310343 and the sub number on the unit is E2T61475.

Hope this helps

Hello, thanks for the reply. I found my exact ECU number in the end - MD355166. You can buy a new one from Mitsubishi for over £1000. There’s a second hand unit for sale in America - but postage was over £100!! so just keeping an eye out for one - but it seems to be very rare. thanks
