Dropping the Fuel Tank

Hi all, I’m in the process of resolving an odd issue - fuel leaking out of the charcoal canister!

I’m looking to replace the fill valve and need to drop the tank to do so.

Does anyone have any advice for this or is there an existing guide available?

Thank you

Any guidance greatly appreciated; thank you

So to remove the fuel tank you need to do the following.

  1. get the car as high as possible- life is easier
  2. disconnect the main fuel line - turn the bolt on the hardline. Disconnect the return and vapour lines.
2a) disconnect the harness plug from the fuel pump hat - accessed through the boot.
  3. drain the fuel from the plug on the bottom of the tank (not required but makes life much easier and less fuel to spill)
  4. disconnect the filler neck feed and vent tube
  5. the tank is held on by 5x 17mm bolts - undo these slowly making sure the tank is supported- I used a trolley jack and a plank of wood.
  6. lower and remove from under the car.

Hope this helps.
