By now it is apparent that many of these cars are not daily drivers which in my opinion is a good thing. There are some who still use the for daily transportation and in some ways that could be a good thing if properly maintained. There are those who do the utmost due diligence to keep up their cars when used as daily drivers but of course the way anyone wants to drive is their own business. What I would like to know is how many drive on occasion as I do. I take mine out for pleasure only on sunny days but that is because I do not wish to wash the car all the time. So for me it’s usually on a sunny weekend and since I park it in another garage I sometimes like to keep it home ti tinker with it. There is always something to be done with these cars it seems. So what is your average drive time within a month’s time or am I being just too obsessed.
I take mine out maybe 3 or 4 times a month. Usually on the weekends. It stays in a carport covered up all the time. Every once in a while I drive it to work just to enjoy the ride more. It is a 46 mile drive to work on mixed back roads and 4 lane highways. A 100 mile round trip. I try not to do it that often but it is hard! Absolutely love the car.
I have been daily driving my car since i was 17 and im 27 now. I drive about 20 minutes per day on average. The only things ive had to fix in the 10 years is the clutch, rear brake calipers, and currently the ac is broken and thats become a real pain in the ass. I wash it a few times a year and do my regular oil changes.
Been using my TT as a daily since I got it now do about 30min trip a day for work and back about 4x a week for just work and back , stuff goes wrong now and then as things will with a 31 year old car
Get another Lol. I have Red Auto and Blue TT . That way I can drive one and put things right on the other and over past 6 years since I bought them they are my only way to get around . They certainly need regular work and care.
The Grandkids are raring to inherit them and with people like Joe, Rob and the late Graham they aren’t that difficult to maintain no matter how much you drive them but definitely do not let them stand for more than a month.
Hi all
I have owned my car for 22 years this coming September and it has been my daily for all that time these cars are meant to be used and on the road and enjoyed as long as they are serviced and maintained they are prefect and I love watching people’s head turn and there go up as I drive by
More Dailys than you expected, due to the tax laws in Ireland it’s not feasible to use these cars untill they become vintage (30 years old) , which mine will be in a few months. Unfortunately it’s got little or no driving in in my ownership so I’m hoping not too many problems when I do start using it.
Enda
I’ve owned mine since 2016. I drove it for 20 min once a month until about a year ago. Home owners association won’t allow me to park my truck, that’s too large to fit in my garage, outside over night for more than 28 days a year, even though there is plenty of parking spaces. So now I drove it 100 miles a day to and from my shop where I leave my truck. I hate adding milage to it; thanks H.O.A.
keep up the good work maintaining her
That seems a strange rule, what sort of truck are we talking about, or can you just not park anything on the street.
Enda
I dont see why these cars cannot be used as a daily. After it is just an engine inside a chassis and they are engineered to be a daily provided they are looked after, just any car should be. The ones that have issues often simply have not been maintained. Oil changes are crucial.
