Cyl 6 won't fire

Hello all my name is: Emil
I have a: 3000gt VR4
Issue; It won’t fire on cyl 6 even tho it has spark.

Cheers everyone! I’m having a problem that i’m facing right now with the car,

It won’t fire on cyl 6 even tho it has spark.
What’s left to try out that i havn’t had the time for yet is to swap 3/6 coil with another and see if the problem moves.
However i’m somewhat concerned that cyl 3 is working, and that cyl 6 has spark… is it possible the coil has broken down inside so it don’t give good enough spark to cyl 6 ?
I’m currently on vacation and i’ll be home tomorrow evening, hopefully then to swap coilpack and see if the problem moves or not.

Went down and swapped coils to see if problem moves or not,
Car ran even worse on startup with heavy misfires,.
Also noticed corrosion on all 2+2 coil bolts so I guess I’ll order new coilpack and a new PTU while at it… PTU might be good but heck why not once at it…

Hi i have had same issue . have you done fuel filter ? i had not and found out that my petrol tank is rusty.
So its put rust into injectors . i have had them cleaned out which fixed the issue I had 2 bad ones .
Check fuel pressure as I had to fit new fuel pump also .
i am rebuilding this weekend . might be like a new car .

Hi, cheers for input,
i changed fuel filter just about 1k km ago and the fuel from fuelrail is clean, no flakes or any debris in it.

Turned out after alot of testing and checking that coilpack needs to be swapped, altho figures it’s probably been on the edge for awhile, car just passed 170k km and is over 30 years old, been running tuned engine for atleast last 12 years!

a new coilpack and a new PTU is ordered from amayama, will hopefully arrive within 2 weeks!

Today stuff from Amayama arrived.
I’ve now changed PTU, Coilpack, new MSD plug wires and spark plugs,
And yet it misfires…!
i’m lost for words on what can be the issue…

Did you check your ECU for leaking caps ?
I had this issue 2 years, and finaly i did remove the ECU to find it needed rebuild, had this fixed, and car runs great now, so take the time to inspect your ECU.

Cheers! Thank you for input, however I run AEM v1 and all components looks very good. In upcoming days I will have it tested in another car that also run AEM v1 to rule out if its ecu related or not

Problem solved!
Issue was corrosion and a bad female pin in the connector to rear bank injectors, female pin to cyl 6 was bent with too much space so male connector didn’t get a good connection.
Fixed it and engine ran like a champ again!
such a stupid error… and even worse that it occured at the SAME TIME as a timing belt change.
Ohwell that was a relief.
