Clutch Master Cylinder Rebuild Kit

I am wondering what people are using to rebuild their clutch master cylinder?
The OEM kit is MB870513 and this is no longer available.
There doesn’t appear to be an aftermarket alternative available, currently.

I rebuilt mine some time ago using the insides from a LHD aftermarket cylinder, and, yes, you can still get one of these, for now.

This is the sort of thing that will take our cars off the road very quickly indeed. The OEM one’s are fragile and split easily.
The aftermarket one I stripped was far superior, and will probably last for years.

Has anyone been able to find a source of any kits?

I am considering trying to get some made, but wanted to see if anyone had a solution?

Many Thanks

Marty

Hi Marty

I am trying to locate a set of rubber seals for the Brake Master Cylinder, my cylinder is a Nabco product 17/16 bore with a primary and secondary piston, the secondary piston is retained by a screw pin that goes through the outer body & a slot in the secondary piston.

Both pistons have two rubber seals, three appear identical whereas the fouth has a smaller ID and is retained by the sprung part of the Primary piston, there is also a small rubber seal where the screw pin goes through the body, although this could be replaced by a standard “O” ring i would hope.

There are also the two seals that go between the resovoir and the BMC body which have already been mentioned in another thread which is apparently part number : MB238309

I have couple of questions :

  1. Did you have any luck locating anything
  2. What aftermarket BMC did you strip to rebuild yours & where did you obtain it from
  3. Did the BMC you stripped have a slot fot the secondary piston retaining screw to go through

Any info gratefully received

Best regards

Marc

Sorry Marty

Misread your post just saw “Master Cylinder rebuild kit”

Well, some time has passed, but I now believe I have a solution to this

This is a pic of a typical std failure part, you can see the split in the white plastic.

The below is my alternative

I will be testing this on my GTO very shortly, and will report back with the results

If this works as expected, then this will provide a solution to an issue that otherwise will start to take these cars off the road

Marty

I have now installed this on my car.

Works perfectly fine, and these are now available
