Hello everyone, hope Aug. 23rd finds you all well & healthy. Being new to the forum I’m not sure if this has been addressed but here goes. My factory alarm goes off randomly and I am stumped. I’ve read that the battery was getting low and should be charged, did that and still…… beep, beep, beep at any time of day or night. Brought a new battery and ( see above sentence). This issue has been going on for some years so I was able to just leave the doors unlocked however I moved to a location that, that remedy is not a good idea. Therefore…… HELP! Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. The doors are unlock now. lol
There is probably a backup battery in the alarm unit but don’t know if it is easily checked out. The main car battery needs to be a decent quality replacement . You may have a parasitic draw in your wiring which your alarm is detecting as someone tampering with your vehicle. You may just have a faulty alarm. Just some thoughts.
Had problem with mine when replaced weather strips and glass was not tight against door surround rubber, due to me not fully checking adjusters ( done and sorted now). If the door rubber is very worn there may be a gap that allows the wind to blow in and that sets it off, as it would if window left open? Long shot but it happened.
Thanks vtecgrin, I’ll check the service manual to see if there is a secondary battery.
Thank you Greena28, my driver side door is seems a wee bit misaligned. I will try to make some adjustments. Fingers crossed !
Joe’s video will show you the correct adjusting points for in/out and up/down and how to take off door card without breaking all plastic bits . About 20 mins each way.
Hey every body, I think I’ve solved the alarm malfunction issue I was having. This may help others. While working under the hood I noticed that some of the rubber hood stops were longer then others on the passenger side where the hood alarm switch is located. They somehow twisted out a bit so I gave them a twist back in and it’s been 9 days and haven’t heard the alarm since.
Hi, yep sounds like the switch wasn’t closing properly hence the alarm was suspecting a tamper. Sometimes its the daftest things causing an issue
