A/C Conversion Crisis

Hello all my name is: YellowDog
I have a: 1991 Stealth TT
It has the following issue:

Has anyone done the air conditioner conversion from R12 to R134a? Is there a conversion kit available somewhere? Is it a do it yourself job?

Also, my car is not blowing cold air which means it most likely has a freon leak somewhere. Are there common areas where freon is known to leak? Where should I look first?

You can get the simple conversion kit from autozone but the leak may be hard to find unless you can see the oily residue around the join. I would recommend finding a reputable professional to do the job as DIY on your own car will cost a fortune unless you have access to the tools, UV die, vacuum pump, scales, gauges etc.

You could do it yourself assuming you buy everything but to me its easier to just bring it to a shop and let them put uv dye in it. 1 common place is the firewall. You would have to drain the entire system and then fill it up with r134.

Did Joe ever post Part2 of the air conditioning conversion video on youtube?

Hi Joe, did you ever post part2 of your air conditioning conversion video on youtube?

Probably not. I’m afraid that my illness from cancer got in the way of all the car stuff and although I am still on the recovery track, I have so much of my personal backlog to catch up on before fully returning to the 3000gt stuff. I am hoping that spring next year will be a chance to get things rolling again.
Out of curiosity, do you remember what pt2 was supposed to cover?

Glad you are feeling better!

Part 2 was to cover all the o-rings in the AC system. How to get to them and how to replace them

Now I remember, not done it yet. Been too tied up with other stuff but the summer is looking hopeful.
