I have a: 3000GT SL 5 speed manual
It has the following issue: the car feels fine rowing through 1st 2nd and 3rd gear but when I shift to 4th I notice my rpm won’t go above 2000 and the same is I shift to 5th. I get this burning smell as well. I’m not too sure if that means my clutch is going out or if the transmission itself is the problem. I haven’t tried anything to mess with it and wanted to get some help from the community before I started. This is my little brothers first manual car and he picked it up with the previous owner saying he had flushed and replaced all fluids and had the transmission rebuild 5 years ago
The description of the issue honestly doesn’t make sense. If the clutch was slipping the RPM’s would be going past 2000, but the car just wouldn’t be increasing speed.
It almost sounds like some kind of misfire.
