Power antenna grinding sound after full extension

Hello all my name is: YellowDog
I have a: '91 Stealth TT
It has the following issue: I installed a new power antenna mast. After full extension the motor grinds for about 5 seconds before shutting off. No issues with antenna going down. Is there a sensor that detects when the antenna is fully extended to tell the motor to shut off?

NO HELP WILL BE GIVEN WITHOUT PROVIDING AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE RELATING TO YOUR ISSUE

Not sure but my motor goes for like 5 seconds before shutting off. Except my antenna does not go up.

ian2160, Yours probably needs a new antenna mast. I replaced my mast and still get grinding motor after antenna is fully extended

Ill prob end up getting the one off 3sx, the stubby antenna. The antenna on these cars is one of the few things I strongly dislike lol
