It seems a very common issue possibly due to water ingress in the trunk that the top of the Fuel sending unit gets severely rusted. I remove the access panel in the rear hatch area of my '99 3000GT SL
and to my horror, I discovered just that situation. I tried to clean up as much as I knew how and pieces of the nuts holding the bolts on started to flake off for being so bad. I fear I may need to replace the entire fuel sending unit and maybe gas tank unless there is a good way to save it. Is that my only option or can it be successfully saved? Definitely asking for a video if so!
