I have bled the rear steering. No air in the system. The steering does work above 35 mph, approximately. It’s does not appear to move in the opposite direction at low speeds. I have read in the manual that it moves the opposite way to help with the lack of lock due to the all wheel drive.
My question is , where in the system is the trigger to enable the rear wheels to change angle regardless of the speed. I have a feeling it is located above the rear differential. My extensive manuals loaned to me ( thanks Gilbo) do not appear to give me the answer.
I nearly have every original gadget working the steering is the last one ,very pleased.
There’s no electrical trigger. It’s all hydraulic and only works above a certain speed because it relies on high pressure generated by the pump in the rear diff. Even when it is functioning as new, the rear steering is barely more than a visible twitch in the same direction as you turn the steering wheel.
I knew you would be on it . I said to my mate I bet Andrew knows. I knew it wasn’t electrical. I think because it’s such a minor movement it’s difficult to assess its operation. I’m happy with it. I’m currently welding freeing up the active exhaust .would you have a picture of the cable bracket position, as I’m making a few brackets as the two exhausts I’m fixing have rusted away.
I haven’t really got any pics of my own, but here’s a pic I had stored of an Active Exhaust system, showing the guide bracket and how the top valve should be oriented when it is sprung back into place.
